OFFICER OF THE ASSESSOR
ERMA FRANKE
W4197 LEDGE ROAD
MAYVILLE, WI 53050
This is a guideline for anyone wanting a building permit.
Call Erma Franke at 920-583-3320. Please leave a message if I am not at home. Tell me what you want to build and the guidelines for various permits are as follows:
You do not need a Building Permit for the following:
- Siding
- Replacing the shingles on your roof, if you do not change the pitch of the roof
- Concrete work
- Blacktop driveways
To be on the safe side, just call Erma Franke and she will advise you.
You do need a permit for any building over 6x6.
Because we are under County Zoning, you then call:
Dodge County Land Resources & Parks Department at Juneau
127 East Oak Street
Juneau, WI 53039
920-386-3700
Tell them what you plan to build or remodel. Take a sketch of your buildings and the location that you plan to build. You must show the distance from your well, septic tank and seepage bed and how far you are away from the center of the road, and your side lot line if you will be close to your neighbor’s lot, and apply for your Land Use Permit from Dodge County. Their office is located in Juneau in the Dodge County Administration Building on Hwy 26. They are on the 3rd floor, south end.
When Dodge County sends me a copy of your Land Use Permit, I will send you notice of what you owe the Town of Lomira.
If you are planning to build a new home, follow these procedures:
Call someone to get started on a Sanitary Permit. Your County Permit will not be issued without a Sanitary Permit Number. Then go and see Planning & Development at Juneau, Phone number is 920-386-3700, for your Land Use Permit. Take plans along. You will have to know the footage from the center of the road to where construction is to start, distance from side lot lines, distance from the well, septic tank and seepage bed. Again I will contact you for the fee for the Town of Lomira and also the fee for inspections done by Mary Kay Vogel which will be $710.00. I will collect all money for the permits. You have to call Mary Kay Vogel for scheduling inspections at 920-210-4135. Do that before you start construction.
If this is a new home, you will also have to apply for a Building Address Number. You may do this also at the Juneau office. Measure, from the closest driveway to your driveway. Take that measurement to Juneau. They will issue the number and send that information to Erma Franke and she will order the number for you. The Town pays for the sign, but you have to pay for the application fee at Juneau which is $20.00.
You will have to contact the Town for a driveway permit. Call 920-583-4011 and they will let you know what has to be done.
If you still have any questions, please feel free to call me and I will point you in the right direction.
