Illegal to push snow onto road or road right-of-way To Publications / Articles
Please be aware that pushing snow or other materials onto or across highways is illegal. This action also removes salt and sand that have been put down by Town of Lomira snowplows. Performing these activities can lead to accidents resulting in property damage, bodily injury, and even death. These activities are prohibited by Wisconsin state law statute 346.94(5), “Placing injurious substance on highway. No person shall place or cause to be placed upon a highway any foreign substance which is or may be injurious to any vehicle or part thereof.”
Town of Lomira Ordinance Chapter 17 also states that “Snow or ice removed from private property shall not be stored in any manner that will obstruct or limit vehicular or pedestrian vision, movement or access, or in any way make Town rights-of-way unsafe.”
Please follow these regulations in order to avoid penalty and liability, and to help keep highway travel safe for everyone. A repeat violation will result in a notification to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department and a fine of $200.50. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact Town Chairman Jeff Faber at 920-979-2181 or Highway Superintendent Randy Dittberner at 920-960-7239.
